Mickey

It all started with Mickey Mouse. Created by Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse gained fame by starring in Steamboat Willie, the first cartoon short to have synchronized sound. Mickey's girlfriend was Minnie Mouse, and he had a pet dog, Pluto. His best friends were Donald Duck and Goofy. Mickey was brave, fun, and adventurous, but he could sometimes be stubborn. Mickey's many occupations have included steamboat pilot, band conductor, sorcerer's apprentice, musketeer, and nightclub owner. Mickey Mouse was the first animated character to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Mickey was originally a nickname for Michael, which means 'who is like god.' In 2014, 99 boys and 6 girls were named Mickey in the U.S.
