Minnie

Minnie Mouse was Mickey Mouse's girlfriend. Some sources state that her full name is Minerva. Her father was a farmer named Marcus Mouse. Her grandparents were Marshall and Matilda Mouse. She had two uncles, Milton and Mortimer, and two nieces, Melody and Millie. She was friends with Clarabelle Cow, but her best friend was Daisy Duck. In one cartoon, she had a dog named Rover, but he was later changed to Mickey Mouse's dog, Pluto. She had a cat named Figaro.

In Pixar's Cars, Minny was a mini-van who was the wife of another mini-van named Van. They love to travel and often get lost, and Van refuses to consult a map.

Minnie started out as a diminutive of Wilhelmina and Mary. Whilhelmina is a German name that means, "determined protector." Mary's exact origin is not known. It could come from the Latin maris, meaning sea, or from an Egyptian name, Mry meaning beloved. Minerva was the Roman goddess of wisdom and war, and the Roman equivalent of Athena. In 2014, 48 girls were named Minnie in the United States.
