In the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, Captain Teague was the father of Captain Jack Sparrow. He was a former Pirate Lord of Madagascar and was the keeper of the Pirate Code, also known as the Pirata Codex. He was ruthless and would kill any one who questioned the code. He lived at Shipwreck cove, and kept the shrunken head of Jack's mother with him.
Teague is the Anglicized version of the Irish name Tadhg. It means 'poet.' In 2014, 47 boys were named Teague in the U.S.
