Alice from the Alice Comedies |
In the 1920s, Walt Disney produced a series of cartoons called the Alice Comedies. The character of Alice was live action, while the rest of the film was animated.
Alice is derived from the Old French name Adeliz, which itself is derived from Adelaide. It means "noble or exalted." Alice has always been in the top 1,000 names in the U.S. It reached it's peak in 1906 when it was ranked as the 8th most popular name for girls. It fell in popularity, and reached a low in 2002 when it was #444. It's coming back into fashion, however, and in 2014, it moved up to the 97th most popular name.
