King Stefan was the father of Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty. His wife was Queen Leah. In Maleficent, he and Maleficent were in love, but he betrayed her and cut off her wings in order to become king. His wife was Queen Lelia. In Once Upon a Time, he was the true love who awoke Briar Rose from a sleeping curse and Aurora was their daughter.
Stefan is a variant of the Greek name Stephen, which means 'crown'. In 2015, Stefan was the 800th most popular name for boys in the United States.
