Gaston

Gaston in the 2017 live action remake and the original animated version of Beauty and the Beast


In Beauty and the Beast, Gaston was a boorish man that was determined to marry Belle because she was the most beautiful girl in town. LeFou was his sidekick. He loved hunting and showing off, and hated books. In the 2017 remake, he was a former soldier.



In Once Upon a Time, Gaston was the son of Lord LeGume but was just as boorish despite his noble birth.

Gaston is a French name that is derived from the Germanic word for 'stranger or guest'. In 2015, 27 boys were named Gaston in the United States.

Tala

Grandmother Tala from Moana
In Disney's Moana, Tala was the mother of Chief Tui, and was Moana's grandmother. When the ocean gave the heart of Te Fiti to Moana as a young child, Tala kept it safe until she was older. She taught Moana about her people's past and encouraged her to follow her to find Maui and return the heart of Te Fiti. When she died, her spirit took the form of a stingray.

In Tagalog Mythology, Tala was the goddess of the morning and evening star. In 2015, 115 girls were named Tala in the United States.

Arianna

Queen Arianna in Tangled
In the Tangled franchise, Queen Arianna was the queen of Corona and the mother of Princess Rapunzel. Her husband was King Frederic. She spoke French, and traveled extensively before marrying. She nearly died during her pregnancy with Rapunzel, but a magic flower created a medicine that saved her and Rapunzel, granting her daughter magical healing powers.

Arianna is an Italian variant of Ariadne, a Greek name that means 'most holy'. Ariadne was a the daughter of King Minos and wife of the god Dionysus in Greek mythology. In 2015, Arianna was the 56th most popular name for girls in the United States.

Chip and Dale were two mischievous chipmunks that appeared in many Disney cartoons. Chip has a small chocolate chip looking nose, and two front teeth. Chip is known as the smart one.

Phillipe

In 1991's Beauty and the Beast, Phillipe was a Belgian draft horse owned by Maurice and Belle. He threw Maurice, causing him to seek refuge in the Beast's castle. He returned home, alerting Belle that her father was missing.

Philippe is the French version of Philip which means 'friend of horses'. In 2015, Philippe was given to 21 boys in the United States.
