Destiny

In Finding Dory, Destiny was a whale shark that lived in the Marine Life Institute where Dory was born. She and Dory used to talk through the pipes and she taught Dory to speak whale. Destiny had poor vision which impaired her swimming. She escaped from her enclosure to help Dory, and ultimately returned to the Great Barrier Reef with her.

Carina from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
In the film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Carina Smyth was an orphan with a knowledge of astronomy whose search for the Trident of Poseidon led her to become involved with Henry Turner and Captain Jack Sparrow.

In Disney's Moana, Tala was the mother of Chief Tui, and was Moana's grandmother. When the ocean gave the heart of Te Fiti to Moana as a young child, Tala kept it safe until she was older. She taught Moana about her people's past and encouraged her to follow her to find Maui and return the heart of Te Fiti. When she died, her spirit took the form of a stingray.

In Tagalog Mythology, Tala was the goddess of the morning and evening star. In 2015, 115 girls were named Tala in the United States.

Arianna

Queen Arianna in Tangled
In the Tangled franchise, Queen Arianna was the queen of Corona and the mother of Princess Rapunzel. Her husband was King Frederic. She spoke French, and traveled extensively before marrying. She nearly died during her pregnancy with Rapunzel, but a magic flower created a medicine that saved her and Rapunzel, granting her daughter magical healing powers.

Arianna is an Italian variant of Ariadne, a Greek name that means 'most holy'. Ariadne was a the daughter of King Minos and wife of the god Dionysus in Greek mythology. In 2015, Arianna was the 56th most popular name for girls in the United States.

In Disney Channel's Tangled: Before Ever After, Cassandra was a lady in waiting to Princess Rapunzel. Cassandra's father was the Captain of the Royal Guard. She was as comfortable wielding a sword as she was in a gown. She owned an owl that she called 'Owl'.

In Big Hero 6, Cassandra 'Cass' Hamada was the aunt of Hiro and Tadashi. She owned a bakery and coffee shop in San Fransokyo.

Cassandra from Hercules: The Animated Series
In Hercules: The Animated Series, Cassandra went to Prometheus Academy, where she was friends with Hercules and Icarus. Like her mythological counterpart, she had the ability to see the future, but no one ever believed her.

In Marvel's Ant-Man, Cassandra Lang was the daughter of Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man. After her parents divorced, her mother Maggie remarried a policeman named Jim Paxton. She had a giant ant as a pet.

Moana



In Disney's Moana, Moana Waialiki was the daughter of the Chief Tui and Sina, of the Island of Motuni. Her Grandmother Tala encouraged her to follow her heart and take to the sea to find the demigod Maui and restore the heart of Te Fiti. She had a pet pig named Pua and a rooster named Heihei.

Flora

In the animated film, Sleeping Beauty, Flora was one of the fairies that raised Princess Aurora after she was cursed by Maleficient. When Aurora was born Flora gave her the gift of beauty. Flora wears red with yellow accents, and she tends to be the leader. Flora and Merryweather fought over the color of a dress they made for Aurora. Flora kept making it pink, and Merryweather would turn it blue. In the Disney Junior series Sofia the First, Flora, along with the other fairies from Sleeping Beauty, are instructors at Royal Prep.

In Pixar's film, A Bug's Life, Dr. Flora was the doctor of the ant colony.

Flora was the Roman goddess of flowers and spring, and she was the wife of Zephyr, the west wind. In 2015, 173 girls were named Flora in the United States.

Penny

In the 101 Dalmations franchise, Penny was one of Pongo and Perdita's puppies.

In the film Bolt, Penny was a child actress whose co-star was her own dog, Bolt. After Bolt got lost, he traveled across the country to find her. She nearly died from a fire in the studio but Bolt arrived in time to rescue her. After the incident, the two of them quit Hollywood and moved to the country.

In the film The Rescuers, Penny was a young orphan girl who was kidnapped by Madame Medusa who needed a child to fetch a diamond from a narrow hole for her. She was rescued by Bernard and Bianca, and later adopted.

In the series The Proud Family, Penny Proud was the daughter of Oscar and Trudy Proud. She was a talented singer and a straight A student. She was on the football team and works for the school newspaper.

In the Inspector Gadget franchise, Penny was the niece of Inspector Gadget. She often helped him with his cases.

In the film Sky High, Penny Lent was the leader of the school's cheerleading squad. She was able to make multiple clones of herself.

Penny is a diminutive for the Greek name Penelope. Penelope is a name from Greek mythology. In Homer's Odyssey, Penelope was Odysseus' wife. When he was believed dead, she delayed remarrying by weaving a burial shroud for her husband, but every night she undid what she had weaved the day before. So today the name is generally thought to mean 'weaver', but it likely originated before the story and referred to a type of bird. In Disney's The Princess and the Frog, Eudora was the mother of Tiana. She was one of the finest seamstresses in New Orleans, and made dresses for Charlotte La Bouff. She worried that Tiana worked too hard, and hoped she would find a husband.

Eudora was the name of a Hyades in Greek mythology. The Hyades were nymphs that were the daughters of Atlas that brought the rain. It's meaning is 'good gift'. In 2015, only 7 girls were named Eudora in the United States.

In the Disney Channel animated series, Phineas and Ferb, Candace Gertude Flynn was the older sister of Phineas, and half-sister of Ferb. Her best friend was Stacy Hirano. Her love interest was Jeremy Johnson. Candace spent her summer days trying to bust her brothers for the mischief they caused with their many projects, but she never succeeded.

In the Disney Channel series, Wizards of Waverly Place, Justin and Max Russo take dancing lessons from dance instructors Richard and Candace to prepare for their dance with their sister Alex during heQuinceañera.

In Disney channel's Star Wars Rebels, Hera Syndulla was a Twi'lek and the owner of the freighter ship, Ghost. She also owned a droid named Chopper. She was an expert pilot and marksman. Her homeworld was Ryloth, and her father, Cham, led the resistance to the Empire there. She eventually left her world and became a member of the Rebellion.

In the animated film, Hercules, Hera was the wife of Zeus and Hercules' mother, but in Greek mythology, his mother was a human.

The name Hera comes from the Greek goddess, and it's meaning is uncertain. In 2015, 39 girls were named Hera in the United States.

Anastasia

In the film Cinderella and its sequels, Anastasia Tremaine was the daughter of Lady Tremaine, sister of Drizella, and step-sister of Cinderella. She evolved from being spoiled and selfish to wanting to find true love. Cinderella helped her courtship with the local baker with whom she had fallen in love. Anastasia played the flute.

In Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Anastasia was known as the Red Queen. She originally traveled to Wonderland with her love Will Scarlet, but life as a petty thief did not suit her. She gave up Will to marry the Red King for a life of riches and comfort. Before her marriage, she met Cora, the Queen of Hearts, who taught her magic. Many years later, she teamed up with Jafar in hopes he would help her break the laws of magic so that she could go back in time and stay with Will. Her plans to change time failed, but she and Will eventually rekindled their relationship and she became the White Queen.

In the Disney Channel series, Liv and MaddieOlivia 'Liv' Rooney is an actress and singer who returned home to Wisconsin be close to her twin sister Madison 'Maddie' Rooney. In Disney Channel's series Sofia the First, Princess Amber is Princess of Enchancia. She was the daughter of King Roland II and twin sister of Prince James. Queen Miranda was her step-mother and Sofia was her step-sister. Amber was very girly, and loved dresses, tiaras, and shoes. She had a peacock named Praline, a unicorn named Lyra and a flying horse named Saffron. Her best friends were Princess Hildegarde and Princess Clio. 

In Hannah Montana, Amber Addison was a classmate of Miley Stewart. She was best friends with Ashley Dewitt, and the two of them often teased Miley, Lilly and Oliver.

In Sonny with a Chance, Amber Algoode was the president of Chad's fan club. 

In 101 Dalmations: The Series, Amber Dearly was the niece of Roger and Anita.

In the Disney animated film, The Princess and the Frog, Charlotte La Bouff was a good friend of Tiana's even though she came from a very wealthy family. When Prince Naveen came to town, she wanted to marry him just because he was a prince. She tried to help Tiana & Naveen break the curse by kissing him when she was 'Princess' of the Mardi Gras parade, but she was too late.

In Disney Channel's Sofia the First, Princess Charlotte of Isleworth was cursed when she refused to allow a goblin to attend her party. She was turned into a beast by a sorceress who was the goblin's friend. With Princess Sofia's help, Charlotte made friends with the goblin and redeemed herself, breaking the curse.

Charlotte is a feminine variation of the German name Charles, which means 'free man'. In 2015, Charlotte was the 9th most popular name for girls in the U.S.

Isabel/Isabelle/Isabella

In the Disney Channel series, Elena of Avalor, Princess Isabel was the younger sister of Crown Princess Elena. Isabel was trapped inside a painting with her grandparents for 41 years, by the royal sorcerer in an attempt to save them from an evil sorceress. When Elena was freed from the Amulet of Avalor, she freed her sister and grandparents too. Princess Isabel was an avid inventor, and very close to her big sister.

In the Disney Channel Series Phineas & Ferb, Isabella Garcia-Shapiro lived across the street from Phineas & Ferb. She had a crush on Phineas, but he seemed oblivious. She was a member of the Fireside girls, and often helped the boys on their projects.

In the Disney Channel Series Wizards of Waverly Place, Isabella was a girl that Justin had met on Wizface, and began to date. She did not tell him that she was a werewolf, and temporarily turned him into one too.

In ABC's & Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Isabelle 'Izzy' Hartley was an member of S.H.I.E.L.D. She came in contact with a diviner, and died in a car accident while being rushed to the hospital.

In Ridley Pearson's Kingdom Keepers novel series, Isabella 'Willa' Angelo was one of five kids who modeled for Disney to make interactive holograms in their theme parks. She's a bit of a geek, and loves archery and swimming.

Cinderella/Ella

Cinderella was Disney's second princess. Orphaned at a young age, Cinderella lived with her step-mother and two step-sisters, who treated her like a servant. Her real name was Ella, but her step-sister's named her Cinderella since she was often covered in cinders from sleeping too close to the fire. Her fairy godmother used magic so that she could attend a royal ball, where she met her prince.

In The Suite Life, Ella was a girl who dated Zack Martin for one episode.

In Camp Rock, Eliza "Ella" Pador was an airhead that sang backup for Tess. She had a talent in fashion design.

Ella is usually a shortened form of 'Eleanor' which is a German name that means, 'other, or foreign.' The Hebrew version of the name means 'goddess'. Ella was the 18th most popular name for girls in the United States in 2015. Cinderella last appeared in the Social Security Administration's name database in 2010, when it was given to 8 girls.

In the Disney Channel series, Elena of Avalor, Naomi Turner was the daughter of the harbor master in Avalor, Captain Turner. After Naomi encouraged Princess Elena to take an active interest in stolen ships, Elena appointed her to her Grand Council. Like Elena, she was a teenager. Elena admired her common sense and persistence.

Elena

In the Disney Channel series, Elena of Avalor, Princess Elena was the crown princess of Avalor. She was trapped in an amulet by a sorceress for 41 years until she was freed by Princess Sofia of Enchancia. She was too young to be crowned Queen, so she was instead declared Crown Princess and ruled with a Grand Council. She lived with her sister, Princess Isabel, and her grandparents. Elena seems to have gained some magical abilities from spending so much time in the amulet, but the nature of them is unknown.

In Disney's Lilo & Stitch, Elena, along with Teresa and Yuki, was a girl who made fun of Lilo & Stitch.

Elena is a variant of Helen, which means torch, or corposant (another word for St, Elmo's fire). A common definition given is bright, or shining. In 2015, Elena was the 106th most popular name for girls in the United States.
