Alfredo Linguini

Alfredo Linguini  was one of the main characters in Ratatouille. For most of the movie, he was referred to by his surname, Linguini. He was the son of Renata Linguini and famous chef Auguste Gusteau. After his mother died, he got a job as garbage boy at Gusteau's restaurant. He discovered a rat, Remy, altering the soup. When the soup was a success, it was assumed that it was Alfredo's work. Unable to recreate the culinary success, he teamed up with Remy. When it was proven that he was Gusteau's son, he became heir to the restaurant, but it was closed due to a rat infestation. Along with Remy, he opened a new restaurant, La Ratatouille.

Alfredo is the Spanish, Italian and Portuguese form of the Old English name Alfred. It means 'elf counsel.' In 2014, 524 boys were named Alfredo.

Linguini is a type of pasta. I think it would be an adorable pet name! Check out this list of Ratatouille Pet Names.

Princess Kiara was the daughter of Simba and Nala in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. As a child, Kiara befriended Kovu, the son of Zira, who was a follower of Simba's evil uncle, Scar, but they were forbidden from contact. Years later, when Kovu 'saved' Kiara from a fire set by his siblings, he was allowed to return to Pride Rock. Kovu fell in love with Kiara, and abandoned his mother's mission of revenge. When Zira and the other banished lions attacked Pride Rock, Kiara and Kovu threw themselves between the warring parties and urged them to reconcile. Although Zira refused, the rest of the outsiders rejoined the pride, and Kovu and Kiara were later married.

Kiara is a variant of Ciara, the feminine form of the Irish name Ciar which means 'black.' Kiara was the 353rd most popular name for girls in 2014.

Fergus

In Pixar's Brave, King Fergus was the ruler of DunBroch in Scotland. He was the husband of Elinor and father to Merida and three sons, Harris, Hubert and Hamish. Fergus once only ruled his own clan, but when threatened with a common enemy, he brought together four clans to fight, and in return, they made him their leader. He later lost his leg fighting the bear Mor'du.

Fergus McDuck was the father of Scrooge McDuck, and the grandfather of Donald Duck. He had one son, Rumpus McFowl with his first wife. His second wife was Downy O'Drake, with whom he had Scrooge, Matilda, Hortense, and Gideon. He once owned a trading company called 'Duck & McDuck' with Daisy Duck's great-great-grandfather. Fergus was very poor at one time, but he made a lot of money in the Klondike.

Fergus is a Gaelic name that means 'man of vigor'. In 2014, only 12 boys were named Fergus.

Esmeralda

In Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Esmeralda was a gypsy dancer living in Paris. During the Festival of Fools, she helped Quasimodo when the mob attacked him. Frollo ordered her arrest which she evaded by using a magic trick. She returned with him to Notre Dame, where she was given sanctuary from arrest. When Judge Frollo tried to destroy the home of the gypsies, Esmeralda and Quasimodo joined with Captain Phoebus to defend them. In the sequel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, Esmeralda and Phoebus were married with a son named Zephyr.

Esmeralda means 'emerald' in Spanish and Portuguese. Esmeralda has been in the top 1,000 names for most years since 1951. It hit it's peak in 1998 when it was #133. In 2014 it ranked at #376. I expect it to climb higher since Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes used it for their daughter.

Tiana

In The Princess and the Frog, Tiana was a young waitress who dreamed of owning her own restaurant someday. While catering a party for Charlotte La Bouff, she encountered Prince Naveen, who had been turned into a frog by a witch doctor. Naveen convinced her to kiss him, thinking that she was a princess and it would break the spell, but instead it turned her into a frog too. They traveled through the bayou to find Mama Odie for help. She told them that a kiss from a princess before midnight could break the spell. Since Charlotte's father was the King of the Mardi Gras parade, she was technically a princess for the day. They were unable to get to Charlotte in time, and remained frogs. Tiana and Naveen fell in love, and were married. When Naveen kissed his bride, Tiana, now a princess, broke the spell. Together, they opened Tiana's dream restaurant.

Aurora

Disney's Sleeping Beauty was named Aurora. She was the daughter of King Stefan and Queen Leah. Princess Aurora was given gifts by three fairies at her birth. Flora gave her the gift of beauty and Fauna gave her the gift of song. Before the third gift could be bestowed, Maleficent arrived, and cursed her to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die before the sun set on her 16th birthday. Merryweather still had a gift to give, so she moderated the curse to cause her to fall into an enchanted sleep which could be broken by true love's kiss. She was taken from the castle to live with the fairies and she went by the name Briar Rose. Maleficent's curse was fulfilled, but Aurora was awoken by Prince Phillip. The story was altered a bit in Maleficent, and Aurora was instead awoken by Maleficent, who had come to love Aurora over the years.

Aurora was also the name of a toy telescope in the Disney Channel series, Doc McStuffins.

Aurora is a Latin name that means 'dawn.' Aurora was also the Roman goddess of the morning. Aurora ranked as the 116th most popular name for girls in 2014, the highest it's ever ranked. Aurora is also a good name for parents who like the nickname 'Rory.'

Walter

I had to start this blog off with the man behind the magic, Walt Disney himself. Walter Elias Disney was born in 1901, and spent most of his childhood in Marceline, Missouri. He began drawing at a young age, and would sell his art to neighbors. He served in World War I, and after the war, he worked for Laugh-O-Grams, before striking out on his own. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the first full-length animated film in history. In 1955, he opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

Walter is a Germanic name that means 'ruler of an army'. Walter ranked as the 337th most popular name in 2014.

If you love Disney, what better way to show it than to honor the man behind it all? If it's too dated for your style, Walt would make an adorable pet name too!
