Phoebus

In The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Captain Phoebus was a soldier under Judge Frollo's command. In order to avoid arresting Esmeralda, he told Frollo that she had claimed sanctuary. When he defied Frollo's order to burn down a gypsy house, he was sentenced to death. He escaped, and Quasimodo hid him in the cathedral. Phoebus and Quasimodo joined with Esmeralda to stop Frollo from destroying the gypsy's home. In The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, Phoebus and Esmeralda were married and had a son named Zephyr.

In the movie, Phoebus claimed that his named meant 'sun god'. It comes from the Greek word Phoibos, which was an epithet of Apollo, which is also the root word for the female name Phoebe. It is a very rare name in the United States.
