Ingrid

In the television series Once Upon a Time, Ingrid was the aunt of Elsa and Anna of Arendelle. In this version, Elsa & Anna's mother was named Gerda. Like Elsa, Ingrid also had the power to create snow and ice, and had difficulty controlling her powers. Ingrid accidentally killed her sister Helga, and Gerda trapped her in an urn. She was released when Prince Hans tried to trap Elsa in the same urn. Ingrid tried to turn Anna and Elsa against each other and failed, so she trapped Elsa in the urn and froze Arendelle. Ingrid traveled to the real world, hoping to find Emma Swan, whom she believed, with Elsa, would be her new family. After Elsa arrived in Storybrooke, she attempted to bring her new family together by casting the spell of shattered sight on the town. When Anna found a letter from their mother expressing regret for what she had done to Ingrid, Ingrid abandoned her plans. She sacrificed herself to end the spell and save Storybrooke.

Ingrid is a Scandinavian name based in Norse mythology. Ing was the Norse god of the Earth's fertility. Ingrid refers to 'Ing's beauty.' In 2014, Ingrid was the 924th most popular name for girls in the U.S.
