Gerda

In Disney's Frozen, Gerda was a servant to the royal family of Arendelle. Gerda was at the gate when Kristoff brought Anna back to the palace.

In the television series, Once Upon a Time, Gerda was the name given to the Queen of Arendelle, mother of Anna and Elsa. This contradicts the name shown in runes on her grave marker in the film, and in a book, which was Iduna.

Gerda is a Norse name that means 'shelter.' Gerda was the heroine in Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen, upon which Frozen is based. Gerda only made it to the top 1,000 names in the U.S. in three different years; 1903, when it ranked at #996; 1906, when it ranked at #978; and 1915, when it ranked at #950.
