In Disney's Frozen, Queen Iduna of Arendelle was the mother of Princesses Anna and Elsa. She and her husband, King Agnarr, were killed at sea during a storm.
Iduna was not used in the film, but the runes on her grave marker spell out the name Iðunn, which is Anglicized as Iduna. The name was also given in a Frozen story book. Iduna means 'youthful' or 'eternal youth'. In the television series Once Upon a Time, the character was called Gerda.
