Kai

In Disney's Frozen, Kai was a servant to the royal family of Arendelle. Kai's duties were similar to that of a butler. He announced guests at Queen Elsa's coronation, and communicated with dignitaries from foreign lands on behalf of the Queen.

In the Disney Junior series Sofia the First, Kai was a panda who lived in the forests of Wei-Ling. He left his home so that he could dance all he wanted. He helped Princess Sofia, Prince Jin and Wu-Change on their journey to find a cure for Princess Jun's cold.

In the Disney Channel series Good Luck Charlie, Kai was a surfing instructor that Teddy met while on vacation in Hawaii.

In the Disney XD series Kickin' It, Kai was the Junior World Martial Arts champion.

In the television series Gargoyles, Kai was the leader of Clan Ishimura.

Kai was one of the original characters in Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen, upon which Frozen is based. Kai is a name with roots in several cultures. It is Welsh, Greek, South African, Hawaiian and Scandinavian. The Scandinavian meaning is uncertain, but in other cultures it can mean "keeper of the keys", "earth", "beautiful", or "the sea". In 2014, Kai ranked as the 177th most popular name for boys in the United States.
