In The Princess and the Frog, Mama Odie was a voodoo priestess. Tiana and Prince Naveen visited Mama Odie hoping that they could remove the curse that turned them into frogs. She told them that Charlotte could break the curse if she kissed Naveen before midnight, since her father was the King of Mardi Gras. They were unable to get to Charlotte in time, however. Later, Mama Odie officiated Tiana and Naveen's wedding ceremony. When Naveen kissed his bride (now a princess), the curse was broken.
Odie was a nickname for O-names such as Odessa and was sometimes used as a stand alone name. It hasn't been in the top 1,000 names for girls in the U.S. since 1916, and doesn't appear at all in the 2014 list.
