Jasmine

In Disney's Aladdin, Princess Jasmine was the daughter of the Sultan of Agrabah. She had a pet tiger named Rajah. Upset with a law requiring her to marry before she turned 16, Jasmine snuck out of the palace where she met Aladdin. When Aladdin found the Genie's lamp, he wished to be made a prince so he could marry Jasmine. Jasmine saw through his disguise, and the two fell in love. After Aladdin rescued the Sultan and Jasmine from the power hungry Jafar, the sultan abolished the law requiring Jasmine to marry a prince so that she could choose whomever she deemed worthy.

In the Disney channel series American Dragon: Jake Long, Jasmine was a magical creature called a Nix, although she appeared human. When in human form, she was a very friendly, nice girl. However when she turned into a Nix, she instinctively sucked the souls from humans.

Jasmine is a Persian name that refers to a type of flower. Jasmine first entered the top 1,000 names for girls in the U.S. in 1973. It hit it's peak in 1993 & 1994, the two years after Aladdin was released. It's declined since then, and in 2014 it was the 100th most popular name for girls in the U.S.
