Nakoma

In Disney's Pocahontas, Nakoma was Pocahontas's best friend. Nakoma admired Pocahontas's betrothed, Kocoum. Nakoma distrusted the settlers and worried about Pocahontas's involvement with John Smith. At first she covered for her, but when Pocahontas snuck off with him a second time, she feared for her safety and sent Kocoum after them. After Smith was captured, Nakoma helped Pocahontas gain access to see him.

Most baby name sites state that the meaning of Nakoma is 'great warrior or great spirit' but I'm not certain how accurate the information is. The usually reliable Behind the Name states that it is Chippewa for "I do as I promise." Nakoma was given to 5 boys in 1995 and 7 girls in 1996. It barely made it into the database for the next three years when it dropped off completely.

She had three days to make Eric fall in love with her or she would be Ursula's prisoner. She missed the deadline, but King Triton made a deal to become Ursula's prisoner instead. Ursula continued to try and kill Ariel, but was killed by Prince Eric. When she died, all her prisoners were freed. Her father gave her legs, and she and Prince Eric were married.

In The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, Ariel and Eric had a daughter named Melody. When she was a baby, Morgana, the sister of Ursula tried to kill her. Ariel and Eric decided to keep Melody away from the sea to protect her. Melody could not resist the sea, however, and was tricked by Morgana. Ariel became a mermaid again to try and find Melody. After Morgana was defeated, Ariel became human again.
